Photography workshop

Iceland

Coast and inland
Iceland. An icon among landscape photographers. A beautiful and harsh landscape full of contrasts. The ever-changing weather, which can drive a photographer to despair, but in a second it turns into an explosion of color and light. Meadows full of blooming lupines and the omnipresent water, rolling down waterfalls or roaring in the sea.
This is all Iceland and we will be visiting its southern and partly western part as part of the expedition. The advantage of the summer term in Iceland is that the roads to the interior open after winter, so we will not miss this extremely beautiful part of Iceland.

Characteristics of the workshop

The workshop is intended primarily for photographers interested in landscape photography. Due to the nature of the landscape, this course is primarily intended for photography at wider focal lengths, but there is certainly room for a telephoto lens as well.
In the summer, Iceland has a polar day and our days will be long too. Sunset starts around ten in the evening and sunrise is at two in the morning.

We will be transported by off-road vehicles, and on the way inland we will also ford some rivers in our cars.

Advantages of the workshop

  • beautiful and harsh nature
  • In June, lupines bloom in Iceland, so we will have a chance to take pictures of them.
  • Also, at the beginning of June, roads to the interior open after winter, so we will visit there too.
  • good mood and willingness to explain and thus pass on as much knowledge and experience as possible
  • participants can borrow filters from VFFoto

Weather on the island

  • Iceland is characterized by truly changeable weather, which can change several times a day.
  • In June, the daytime temperature ranges between 10-20°C and at night it drops to about 5°C. Of course, the wind can significantly reduce the perceived temperature.
  • We definitely have to count on rain and we need to prepare for it.
